Kazakhstan Showcases the “Legacy of the Great Steppe” Exhibition During the WIPO Assemblies

From July 7 to 15, the 68th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) took place in Geneva.

At the opening of the 68th Series of Meetings of the WIPO Assemblies, the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerlan Sarsembayev, delivered a statement on behalf of the Kazakh delegation, outlining Kazakhstan’s key priorities for the further development of the intellectual property system.

The Kazakh delegation also included Sabit Akhmetov, Director of the National Institute of Intellectual Property (Kazpatent).

One of the key events held during the Assemblies was the opening of Kazakhstan’s country exhibition, “Legacy of the Great Steppe,” at WIPO Headquarters. The exhibition was designed to promote Kazakhstan’s rich cultural heritage on the international stage.

The opening ceremony was attended by WIPO Director General Daren Tang, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the World Trade Organization and International Economic Organizations Kairat Torebayev, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva Erzhan Kazykhan, heads and representatives of foreign delegations, as well as participants of the Assemblies.

The exhibition showcased Kazakhstan’s rich cultural heritage through traditional handicrafts, elements of national attire, musical instruments, and artifacts reflecting the country’s traditional way of life. The centerpiece of the exhibition was the immersive multimedia installation “Masterpieces of Kazakh Painting,” created in collaboration with the Abylkhan Kasteyev National Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The project introduced international visitors to outstanding works of Kazakh art through the use of modern digital technologies.

The cultural program featured performances by the Joshy Qazaq National Group ethno-folk ensemble, while guests also had the opportunity to experience traditional Kazakh cuisine.

The “Legacy of the Great Steppe” exhibition remained on display at WIPO Headquarters until July 15, 2026, serving as an important part of the Assemblies’ cultural program and highlighting Kazakhstan’s commitment to promoting its historical and cultural heritage to the international community.
