The XIV International Forum "Anti–Counterfeiting - 2026" was held in Astana

28 May 2026, Astana hosted the XIV International Forum “Anti Counterfeit 2026” within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Forum with the support of the Eurasian Economic Commission. The forum was organized by the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The forum became one of the key international platforms for discussing issues related to combating illicit trafficking of counterfeit products, protection of intellectual property rights, development of digital control mechanisms, and strengthening fair competition in the digital economy.

The event was attended by Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Legal issues Yerzhan Zhiyenbayev, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Sarsembayev, Member of the Board (Minister) of the Eurasian Economic Commission Bakyt Sultanov, President of the Eurasian Patent Organization Grigory Ivliev, as well as representatives of government agencies, international organizations, the expert community and business sector.

The Republican State Enterprise “National Institute of Intellectual Property” took an active part in the forum, reaffirming the importance of international cooperation and exchange of experience in the field of intellectual property protection and anti counterfeiting efforts.

During the plenary session, participants highlighted the growing importance of combating counterfeiting amid the development of the digital economy and cross border e commerce. According to international data, the global trade in counterfeit goods amounts to approximately USD 467 billion. In the EAEU countries alone, more than 6.6 million units of counterfeit products were identified in 2024.

Minister of Justice Yerlan Sarsembayev emphasized that intellectual property has become a strategic resource for the development of innovation, technology and the creative economy. It was also noted that the new version of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the first time enshrines the protection of intellectual property by law.

The forum included 10 thematic sessions dedicated to digitalization of intellectual property, product labeling, consumer protection in e commerce, application of artificial intelligence technologies, and enhancement of international cooperation in combating counterfeit products.

More than 1,000 participants, including representatives of government bodies, international organizations, rights holders, experts and business representatives, registered for the forum.
