The delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, headed by Vice Minister of Justice Botagoz Zhaxelekova, took part in the second session of the High-Level Dialogue on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization and held on April 14–16, 2026 in Geneva.
During the visit, the delegation, which included the Director of Kazpatent Sabit Akhmetov, held a meeting with the Director General of WIPO Daren Tang. The parties discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation, the development of digital services, and the introduction of advanced technological solutions into the intellectual property system, including AI tools.
Also, within the framework of this event, bilateral meetings were held with individual departments of WIPO on the transfer of Kazakhstan's best practices in digitalizing the processes of examination of industrial property, data exchange and other aspects.
The WIPO High-level Dialogue on ICT is a key international platform bringing together heads and chief digital development specialists of intellectual property offices from around the world. The focus is on issues of digital transformation, improving the efficiency of public services and the formation of a modern, sustainable IT infrastructure in the industry.
During the session, special attention was paid to the use of artificial intelligence technologies, cybersecurity issues and effective data management. The participants exchanged best practices and discussed joint approaches to introducing innovations into the activities of intellectual property offices.
Special importance is attached to the work of specialized focus groups, including a network of chief information officers and a joint group on artificial intelligence tools, which serve as a practical platform for the development and testing of advanced solutions.
Kazpatent's participation in the Dialogue confirms Kazakhstan's strategic focus on the development of the digital ecosystem in the field of intellectual property and its active involvement in the international agenda.
